Julie Jarzombek

Employed with South Texas Surgeons since 2007, Julie Jarzombek has more direct experience working with Lapband patients than any nutritionist in San Antonio.  She facilitates our pre- and post-operative educational programs and support groups, and is involved in training other nutritionists and staff from Lapband programs across the country.  She is currently working on her Masters Degree in mental health counseling to compliment her undergraduate work in nutrition.

Julie works closely with patients preoperatively, preparing them for the significant lifestyle changes that are necessary for successful weight loss surgery. Through monthly sessions she incorporates both dietary and behavior modifications, including education on the components of a healthy diet, development of healthy behavioral habits for eating, and redefining the relationship with food.

After surgery is a critical and demanding time for the patient.  Julie continues to foster the relationship with the patient that was built before surgery to help the patient maintain their dietary and behavioral changes.  Nutritional supplements such as vitamins and calcium are often necessary after surgery, which are available through the program.
Outside of the monthly individual visits, Julie coordinates and leads monthly support groups meetings, as well as a 24-hour online support group.
