Dr. Cárcamo graduated from the University of California at San Francisco in 1992 and completed his surgical training at University of Texas in Houston in 1997.

He is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.  He has been in the practice of general surgery in San Antonio since 1997, dealing with a wide variety of problems such as gallbladder disease, hernias, intestinal disorder, breast disease and cancer.

A large proportion of his practice involves minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery.  His interest in weight loss (bariatric) surgery led him to seek additional training in 2003, and he has since offered the Lap-Band® System or the laparoscopic adjustable gastric band.

Dr. Wright has been in practice in San Antonio since 2001, and is well-recognized as one of the nation’s leaders in Lapband® surgery.  He graduated with high honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and completed his surgical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal  Endoscopic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, and Bexar County Medical Society.

He and Dr. Gerardo Carcamo founded South Texas Surgeons, PA in 2003, which is San Antonio’s only weight loss surgery practice specializing primarily in adjustable gastric banding.  Their practice is used as a model for training other Lapband surgeons not only in techniques of surgery, but in postoperative and nutritional care as well.  He is certified for both the Lapband® and Realize™ band.  He has also completed additional training through Ohio State University, and offers the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. Wright is currently a master consultant for Allergan USA, Inc, providing valuable insight on current surgical technique and new product development for weight-loss surgery.  He is also a member of the Allergan faculty, involved in training new surgeons.  He sees patients at the Turning Point Specialty Surgery Center, as well as the Nix Medical Center, where he has been the Chief of Surgery and Anesthesiology since 2006.  His patients describe him as a highly skilled surgeon paying great attention to detail, with a warm and sensitive bedside manner.
