    • Average caloric intake for an active person is 2500 calories daily, inactive around 2000 calories daily. In order to safely drop weight you should subtract around 300-500 calories from your daily caloric intake.

    • You should exercise a minimum of 30 minutes at least 3-5 times a week. Something as light as brisk walking should suffice. The more you exercise the more calories you will burn, with the intent being to burn-up more calories than you take in.

    •  Any fried foods and sweets have a lot of unnecessary calories and the calories will quickly add up. Foods of these sorts will not provide you with the essential daily nutrients your body needs.

    • Stay away from the fad diets. Any thing promising fast, quick, easy weight loss is just out to get your money and in the long run, you tend to put that weight back on if you don’t keep up with diet and exercise anyway. Too good to be true probably is not true.

    • Eat smaller meals throughout the day. Believe it or not it will speed up your metabolism accelerating weight loss. People tend to believe that if they don’t they will accelerate weight loss. Incorrect, your metabolism will turn to survival mode and slow down, thereby keeping the calories stored for later use. That’s why people who “starve diet” themselves typically put on more weight in the long run.

    • Most people tend to believe that eating healthy means eating bland, dry food. Not true. Eating healthy means eating a wider variety of foods.  Cook for yourself. Freshly cooked vegetables are definitely better than fried, over processed vegetables. Throw some fresh spices on meat, poultry and fish. Experiment! Spices always bring your food up a notch. You will eat healthier, feel healthier and save yourself some money by cooking for yourself at home.
