Joining South Texas Surgeons in 2015, Emily Sansom is thrilled to share her knowledge for nutrition and wellness with all patients who walk through our doors. Prior to her transition to South Texas Surgeons, she provided nutrition counseling for 6 years at the San Antonio Women, Infant and Children’s program. She is now bringing her skills to help bariatric patients change their lives.

“Pre and postoperative nutrition counseling is vital to the success of your weight loss journey,” says Emily. “Although we may know what it means to eat healthy, it is always a challenge to incorporate that knowledge into our daily lifestyles…and that is what I am here for.”

Emily offers individual sessions and classes that cover an extensive variety of topics, such as healthy eating behaviors, creating nutritious plates, and making smart choices when dining out or grocery shopping. Emily also provides postoperative diet and lifestyle guidelines, such as daily protein and fluid requirements, as well as required vitamin and mineral supplementation.

Emily also connects with past and present patients on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and facilitates monthly support groups to keep her patients comfortable and happy with their new lifestyles. Her credentials include:
