A two-part program designed to provide effective weight loss results for adults with a BMI of 30 to 40, the ORBERATM or gastric balloon is temporarily placed into the stomach for six months without surgery or incisions. It takes up space in the stomach, helping you to eat smaller meals. Nutritional and psychological support is provided with this procedure.

During the non-surgical procedure done under a mild sedative, the thin and deflated ORBERATM balloon is placed into the stomach using an endoscope. It is then filled with saline until it’s about the size of a grapefruit. The procedure typically takes about 20-30 minutes and patients go home the same day. After six months, the balloon is removed the same way it was placed.

Patients experience rapid weight loss, the majority of which occurs in the first three months. In the ORBERATM FDA trial, patients lost three times as much weight with ORBERATM than with medical treatment alone. Adjustments to eating habits and efforts to stay active greatly influence results.
